According to the North Carolina Association of Realtors, sales of existing homes in North Carolina have increased 22 percent over the same period a year ago.

The triangle area of North Carolina which is considered Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill has been considered one of the nation's best places to live. This area offers new construction, established neighborhoods, a home on a golf course, or a trendy downtown loft. New purchase in North Carolina has many diversified options. It is also considered a great place to raise a family, start a business, and get a world class education. The core anchor for Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are the major universities, nationally ranked hospitals and research centers, as well as technical firms.

The resale market in these areas remains strong. Homes priced under $500,000 are appreciating above the national average.

Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are considered pricey areas to live. One realtor feels that new homebuyers are looking to areas close by such as Hillsborough, Southwest Durham, and Chatam County. These areas offer larger lots and lower taxes.
